3 Basic parts. If you have an STL model - skip to step two
PART ONE
You have to model something (or someone will have).
End goal is an STL of your model.
Slicers like STLS
Tools for this include but are not limited to the following:
- Fusion360 - this is my currently preference. but stay away from the autodesk crack.
Parametric modeling (but not true?) - timeline edit/non destructive. re: change dims in step 1 and they ripple forward to all other steps
- Solidworks - very expensive but the pro ish.
- OnShape - web based cloud - free for public design. Caleb loves this and has been trying to teach a class for awhile but nobody but Josh signed up and one confused after effects person.
- freeCAD - supported by KiCad - dont know much about it but its free parametric modelking
- TinkerCad - web only -
- Rhino - i know nothing
- openSCAD - 100% parametric modeling (code only)
